Abstract:

In a highly interdisciplinary European project (NanoVIB), the next generation of super-resolution microscopy will be brought into the near-IR spectral range and combined with stimulated Raman imaging. By concerted development of laser and detector technologies, microscopy platforms, image acquisition, and fluorophore photoswitching procedures, protein localization patterns at the nanometer scale will be resolved in their cellular contexts. This information will help to understand the mechanisms of how bacteria can cause disease, and likely also subcellular mechanisms of many other diseases.
